Scientists in the Parks

Every year, the Scientists in Parks work experience program places hundreds of aspiring professionals across the National Park Service system to work on natural resource management needs. 

Conservation Legacy

Ancestral Lands operates in local tribal communities, as well as within other programs. Rooted in the culture and heritage of these communities, Indigenous youth and young adults can join conservation and leadership development crews, individual placements and Hiking Clubs.


AmeriCorp Environmental Stewardship conserves natural habitats, improves energy efficiency, protects clean air and water, and helps to mitigate the effects of climate change. These are paid positions. AmeriCorps is the federal agency for national service and volunteerism. It provides opportunities for Americans of all backgrounds to serve their country, address the nation’s most pressing challenges, and improve lives and communities.

American Conservation Experience (ACE) - Environmental Service Corps

American Conservation Experience (ACE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing rewarding environmental service opportunities for young adults and emerging professionals of all backgrounds to explore and improve public lands while gaining practical professional experience.

Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU)-National Science Foundation

The National Science Foundation (NSF) funds research opportunities for undergraduates through its REU Sites program. Each student is associated with a specific research project, and works with the faculty and other researchers.
