Create Your IDEAL Community

I – Identify a situation where action should be taken
D – Distract and shift focus of the persons involved
E – Engage the perpetrator directly
A – Assist the victim
L – Lead others to intervene

Be an UPSTANDER!
Upstanders are what we’re asking you to be. Those who stand up for others when they see something happening without the consent. This is a person who speaks or acts in support of an individual or cause. Someone who intervenes to impact the outcome positively.

  • Diffusion of responsibility
  • Evaluation apprehension
  • Pluralistic ignorance
  • Confidence in skills
  • Modeling
