NSF SUCCESS Requirements

Doane University will select 30 SUCCESS Scholars to participate in the program with 10 new Scholars in the fall of 2023, fall of 2024, and fall of 2025.

Requirements

All SUCCESS applicants and recipients must:

  1. be United States citizens/nationals, legal permanent residents, or hold refugee status,

  2. declare a major in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, engineering, or environmental and earth science (natural resources and environmental sciences) all four years,

  3. enroll as a full-time student at Doane University,

  4. complete the FAFSA form,

  5. be Pell-eligible,

  6. demonstrate academic potential through a high school GPA of 3.2 or higher.

In order to remain in the program, students must

  1. continue to  major in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, engineering, or environmental and earth science (natural resources and environmental sciences) (may add other majors or minors),

  2. continue to enroll as full-time students at Doane University each semester,

  3. live in the SUCCESS living-learning community during the first-year.

  4. annually complete the FAFSA form,

  5. remain Pell-eligible,

  6. participate in SUCCESS activities including outings, meetings, surveys, focus groups, and other activities,

  7. have at least a 2.6 GPA during their first year, and a 3.0 GPA thereafter,

  8. maintain satisfactory progress to degree completion within four years of matriculation.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis with the review starting November 15, 2023. Applications received by January 15, 2024, will be given full-consideration for the 2024-2025 academic year. Contact Kris Williams (kristopher.williams@doane.edu) about applying after this date.
