Disconnection

(dis)connection

Created by director Joel Egger + the Ensemble

A devised, collaborative, ensemble driven movement piece utilizing contemporary music, our collective consciousness, and personal experiences of the last few months of 2020 funneled through the vision of director Joel Egger… (dis)connection experiments with trying to allow the recent and current trauma of our collective isolation through gathering safely to witness ourselves… masks and all. The production was filmed on Bastian Plaza outside the Whitcomb Lee Conservatory at the beginning of October. The videos have been edited together so that we could share it with the community asynchronously.

Stay Safe. Stay Sane. Make Beauty Anyway.

WWZ: A Survivor's Tale of the Great Zombie Pandemic

Adaption by Robin McKercher

We survived the zombie apocalypse, but how many of us are still haunted by that terrible time? We have defeated the living dead, but at what cost? This performative experience tells of those years through the haunting and riveting voices of the men and women who witnessed the horror firsthand. WWZ is the only record of the pandemic. This is an accounting of the ineradicable spirit of resistance that gripped human society through the plague years. We persevered.

Lonely Planet

by Steven Dietz

Jody is in his forties and runs a map store. Not one for the outside world, he stays in his store all the time. His friend, Carl is in his late thirties and has been bringing chairs of dead friends into Jody’s store and leaving them there. When Jody needs to take an AIDS test, Carl tries to convince him it is not only okay to leave the store but also that he must take responsibility for his life. If he doesn’t, he will join the set of chairs that Carl has taken great pains to place in the right spots around the store. Funny, moving, and deeply human, Steven Dietz’s landmark play examines how we all navigate troubled times.
