Off-Campus FAQ

How do I submit my additional materials for my application?

On the application you will be able to attach all of your additional materials. These can be in picture (.jpg,.png, etc) format, or in a pdf format.

It's been some time since I've submitted my application and I haven't heard anything yet, did you receive it?

Please allow our office 10 business days to process and review your application materials. If you are concerned about the status of your application, or wish to ensure that all of your materials were submitted correctly please email our office at doanehousing@doane.edu with the subject "Off-Campus Application Materials".

I am not sure where I will be living at this point, should I still complete the application?

Yes! We can always update your application with your address later in the process once you have secured off-campus housing. We cannot, however, allow you to apply for off-campus housing after the application closes.

I'm already living-off campus. Do I need to complete another application?

Yes please! By completing the application, you are stating your intent to remain off-campus as well as updating your address with the institution. If you were approved under the commuter exemption, we will also need updated documentation of your living status.

How long does my off-campus approval last once I have been granted approval?

Your approval lasts one academic year assuming that you do not violate any terms associated with living off-campus (i.e. moving to a different location than specified on your commuter application). If you decide to apply for residential housing after being granted off-campus approval, you forfeit your off-campus approval for the year and will need to re-apply at a later date.

Is there a place for me to store my items on campus?

There will be limited space in the Student Experience Office to house items such as books and lunch bags. This space is available upon request. Student Experience will not be held responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Where can I park?

Doane offers specific lots to commuter students in order to meet their parking needs. Parking maps can be found here or at the Doane Safety Office located on the lower-level of the Communications Building.

When is the Library open?

What if I don't have my own computer?

Laptops can be checked out from the library during normal hours. There are also computer labs located in Perkins Library, Communications, and Chab Weyers Education & Hixson Lied Art buildings.

Can I eat on campus?

You are welcome to eat in the cafeteria, at Tiger Inn, or go through the Grab-N-Go station located within the cafeteria. Either pay as you go, or purchase a meal plan through the business office. If you want to bring your own food, refrigerators and microwaves are available in the Student Experience Office with additional microwaves for your use in the cafeteria.

Will I get a mailbox on campus?

On campus students receive a campus mailbox. Mailboxes are located within the Service Bureau, on the lower-level of Perry Campus Center.

Please contact the Service Bureau for any questions related to receiving mail and packages.
