Homecoming 2022 - Student Events

While the name "Homecoming" may lend itself to the belief that this epic event is exclusively aimed at alumni returning to their alma mater, it's equal parts as special for Doane's current students!

Between the Student Programming Board, Division of Student Affairs, and many other campus partners, the week is filled with countless opportunities for our Tigers to celebrate Doane and its 150th year. Check out the schedule below!

Sunday, October 2nd

  • Presence at Crete's annual Pumpkin Festival 9 - 5 p.m.  Doane students volunteer in many capacities—including assisting with set-up, hosting tables and promotion throughout the day, and helping with tear-down as well.
  • Decorating Perry Campus Center 4 - 7 p.m.  Students are encouraged to assist in decorating windows, sidewalks, and more for Homecoming week!

Monday, October 3rd

  • Homecoming Kick-Off and (Student-designed!) T-shirt Giveaway 5:30 - 8 p.m. — Students are all invited to celebrate the kick-off of Homecoming Week on campus! There will be inflatables, mini-golf, a high striker carnival game, a velcro wall, an outdoor meal, an Ice Cream Truck, and much more!

Tuesday, October 4th

  • Tiger Volleyball vs (#15) Bellevue 7 - 9 p.m. — Students are encouraged to pack the Haddix Center as the AMBUSH cheers loudly for our Tigers as they take on a ranked foe.
  • Bonfire 9 - 10:30 p.m. — Students are invited to head down to Tuxedo Park for a bonfire, complete with cider, s'mores, music, general Tiger pride, and potential surprises for the first 50 attendees! Rideshare is available via Doane Passenger vans from Haddix! (more information to come!)

Wednesday, October 5th

  • Hoopfest 7 -8:30 p.m. — Students are encouraged to head to Haddix to enjoy student vs. employee basketball fun, giveaways, food, and more—don't miss this fun event!
  • Amazing Race 9 - 10:30 p.m.Like the TV show, but homegrown and on Doane's incredible campus. The competition begins at Lakeside! Prizes valued up to $100 for the first, second and third place winners.

Thursday, October 6th

  • Employer Connections event 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.More than 35 employers will be on campus for students to visit with and learn more about. Four alumni (Cassie Hays ’09, Jamie Ulmer ’97, Jenna Christensen ’15, and Kennerly Benraty ’18, ’21B) will also return for half-hour Lunch & Learn sessions. Learn more here.
  • Country Dance 8 - 11 p.m. Students are encouraged to head to the Field House to enjoy a mechanical bull, a country-western dance, lasso contest, food, and more!

Friday, October 7th

  • Homecoming Pep RallyGeneral Tiger pride will be on full display! Featuring performances by the Doane Band and Doane Dance & Cheer, rousing speeches by Coach Bessler and the Tiger Football captains, Introductions of the 2022 Homecoming Royalty Court (and subsequent Coronation of the Duke & Duchess), announcement of the 2022 Shield and Banner winners, announcement of the 2023 Relay for Life theme, free pizza, prizes, and so much more!

Saturday, October 8th

  • Big Bucks Bingo 9 - 11 p.m. Students are welcome to come to Lakeside for a night of BINGO fun with a plethora of exciting prizes to be won! Crumbl Cookie and Canes will be provided while supplies last.
