Juan Carlos Palacios is an Academic Advisor at Doane and is part of the Academic Affairs team. In this role, Carlos works as a member of the University Academic Advising team serving a diverse population of current and prospective students. Additionally, advisors help students by coordinating all activities related to academic planning, registration, and retention of students to help ensure timeliness to graduation.
Prior to joining the advising team at Doane, Carlos was an academic advisor at Southeast Community college working with students in the automotive technology, autobody, diesel ag tech, diesel truck and John Deere ag tech programs. Along with this role, Carlos also worked as a Trio Student Success Coach for the Milford and Beatrice Campus of Southeast Community College as well as a Public Safety officer. Before transitioning to a career in higher education, he worked for the state of Nebraska as a Specialized Probation officer in Lincoln as well as in Omaha.
Outside of work, you can find Carlos spending time with his three children (Andrea - 13, Julieth - 7, and Sevastian - 4) and wife (Yecenia). Favorite family pastimes include family game nights, family movie nights, playing sports or going on the bike trails in Lincoln.
