Economics

College of Business

Location: Crete
Degree Type:
Undergraduate

Economics provides a logical, ordered way of looking at various problems and issues. To do this, we use models and analytical tools to suggest solutions and improve efficiency.  We seek to understand business decisions, explain individual behavior, scrutinize policies, and describe economic systems.  Economics is an interdisciplinary field that looks at history, philosophy, psychology, mathematics and other fields to provide additional insight.

Students of Doane University’s Economics program are prepared for a variety of careers in business and government as well as graduate work in business, law, and economics.

Classes in economics utilize a variety of teaching and learning techniques. Some examples are:

  • Case Studies
  • Debates
  • Presentations
  • Simulations
  • News and Cartoon Analysis
  • Film Critique
  • Research/Critical Analysis Papers
