Ms. Georgia Thomas is an administrative assistant for the College of Business. She started working at Doane University in 2018. Ms. Thomas has years of experience working in various jobs and roles in Nebraska. She has owned her own business, was executive director of operations/in-home care, and managed a store and offices for multiple organizations. She has years of volunteering experience at Alzheimer’s Walks, American Cancer Society, and Daffodils Days. She is a breast cancer survivor from 1990 and trustee of a farm since 2015.

What advice do you have for students to be successful in their coursework?
Stay focused and work hard! In order for you to be successful in your classes, please give your complete attention to the course material as well put in diligent effort to complete the required assignments on time. That said, if you need help, reach out! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not be afraid to contact your professors and staff members for guidance and to point you in the right direction.
What is your career advice to us? How can we have successful careers?
Research thoroughly! Before deciding on your career path, you need to understand what you are getting into in terms of workload, compensation, time commitment, and energy. Once you have decided on your career path, you need to put your heart and soul into it! You can achieve this by not only working hard, but also being patient, listening to what others are saying closely, and showcasing some compassion.
What is your favorite quote and why?
“Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results.” This quote is by Mark Twain. While it basically speaks for itself, it’s important to note that the underlying point is to have a positive mindset. I have lived this most of my life without realizing it until just recently.
