Doane Employee COVID-19 Message

Doane Faculty and Staff,

You may have seen in local media reports and through recent press releases from Public Health Solutions District Health Department that Saline County has seen a rapid increase in the number of lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county over the past few days. With this new development, we want to remind the Doane community that we all play a vital role in slowing the spread of COVID-19. Please continue to take steps to protect yourself and others.

We encourage you to continue practicing social distancing, wearing a mask in public spaces, and self-monitoring for symptoms. In an effort to slow the spread of the virus, we are requesting your immediate attention to and compliance with the recommended practices from the CDC to ensure your own well-being and the well-being of others.

At this time, out of an abundance of caution for faculty and staff who live and/or work in Crete, we are recommending that you self-monitor for symptoms related to COVID-19. Those who develop a cough, fever, and difficulty breathing should call their primary care provider for further instructions. Employees are asked to contact Kelli Schweitzer, HR at kelli.schweitzer@doane.edu if they have any of the following:

  • You have tested positive for COVID-19 or are experiencing symptoms
  • Someone who lives in your household has COVID-19 or is experiencing symptoms
  • You have had exposure to someone who has COVID-19 or is experiencing symptoms

The state of Nebraska has also launched a new resource called TestNebraska, a website that enlists Nebraskans to take an assessment, get tested, and track their health in an effort to flatten the curve, increase testing for Nebraskans, and accelerate the timeline for individuals to return to work..

Whether you are currently residing in Crete or not, your actions have the ability to impact the safety of your community. Please keep the mission of Doane University in your hearts, taking this opportunity to lead and serve in the global community.

Wishing you well,

Human Resources
