Course Design for Multiple Modalities - July 20th
In this workshop, we will review the university plans so far regarding the Fall and Autumn/Winter I terms. We will also lay the groundwork for aligning course goals and outcomes with assignments and assessments. Next, we will review how these course features can be implemented in multiple modalities. We will discuss variations on alternating attendance that might make sense with different modalities such as hybrid, flipped or split classroom. All of the July workshops will include sharing of information that CETL has gathered, time for Q&A, and small group discussions.

Active Learning for Multiple Modalities - July 27th
This workshop will explore ways that similar active learning strategies can be implemented across different modalities. With specific learning outcomes or skills in mind, we will explore how faculty can set students up to gain outcomes actively while in-person and socially distanced, while asynchronously completing content online, or while attending a class run synchronously in-person and distance format. Active learning for other modality options will be explored along with time for discussion of technical limitations and problem-solving in small groups.

Face-to-Face (f2f) Classroom Logistics - July 30th
In this workshop we will explore the logistics of managing the classrooms on the Crete, Lincoln, and Omaha campuses regarding, 1) behaviors - social distancing, attendance, masks and face shields; 2) use of space - movement, sound, collaboration; 3) identifying and setting expectations. We will be using the time to demo the following technology that will be available for check-out by full-time and adjunct instructors this fall. Below are brief descriptions of each.
- Jabra 510 Puck - Microphone and speaker that sits on the desk and picks up audio from less than 10 feet away.
- Plantronics earpiece microphone - In-ear microphone intended to pick up only the speaker audio with greater clarity in a recording.
- Voice Amplifier - In-ear microphone and speaker combination intended to pick up only the speaker audio for increasing the volume to the room.
- Wacom Intuos Pen Tablet - Digital touchpad to display writing on a computer screen. Requires a computer
- Stylus Pens - Compatible with a touch screen device for annotation that is finer quality than using a finger to write.
